Reverse Tashlich

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Temple Israel is excited to come together for our 2nd Annual Reverse Tashlich, a meaningful way for our entire community to honor an ancient tradition while protecting our environment as the High Holidays approach.

Traditional Tashlich is a ritual where we symbolically cast away our sins by throwing breadcrumbs into a body of water. Reverse Tashlich flips this idea: instead of casting things away, we come together to clean up the water’s edge, removing trash and plastic pollution to help heal the earth. Last year, more than 180 Temple Israel members collected over 65 bags of garbage, joining more than 4,500 Jews worldwide in this beautiful act of reflection, repair, and responsibility. This year, we invite everyone in our Temple Israel family to join us again in this hands-on mitzvah, deepening our connection to the natural world, to each other, and to the global Jewish community working to make a positive difference. We’ll share location details closer to the event date.
